About Me

My photo
Philippe Verdoux
I earned a BA in philosophy (with Honors and the Schlaretzki Prize) from the University of Maryland, College Park, a MS in neuroscience from Brandeis University, and spent a year as a visiting graduate student in the Department of Philosophy at Harvard University. At present, my primary research interests lie at the intersection of emerging technologies and the philosophy of mind and science (especially biology); I also have strong interests in "secular eschatology," or the study of existential risks. I have published papers in numerous academic journals, including the Journal of Future Studies, the Journal of Evolution and Technology, Techne: Research in Philosophy and Technology, and Erkenntnis. I have also published in magazines such as American Atheist, and am soon to be an Affiliate Scholar at the Institute for Ethics and Emerging Technologies. Prior to becoming a researcher, I spent several years writing music for films and television. My CV can be found below.
